Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to drinking water, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "real steps" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen rockets targeted the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city endured heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy died and several individuals were wounded.

The strikes come after nights of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
